1. Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project funded by the Asian Development Bank.

Government of the Republic of Armenia (RA Government) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed the Loan Agreement (Loan 2363-ARM) on 18 December 2007 and on the same date the ADB and the Armenian Water and Sewerage CJSC signed the Project Agreement for implementation of Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project.

The 2363-ARM Loan declared effective on 28 May 2008.

Financial Means: 45 mln USD, from which ADB loan – 36 mln USD, RA co-financing – 9 mln USD.

Objective : Project aimed at improving the public health and environment for about 600,000 people living in 21 towns and about 101 villages where is an urgent need for WSS improvements in the frame of 25 subprojects through safe and reliable water supply and only urgent improvement of sewerage and sanitation facilities.

Project Completion : 31 December 2012.

2. Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project- Additional Financing funded by the Asian Development Bank

Government of the Republic of Armenia (RA Government) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed the Loan Agreement (Loan 2860-ARM (SF)) on May 3, 2012 and on the same date the ADB and the Armenian Water and Sewerage CJSC signed the Project Agreement for implementation of Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project- Additional Financing.

The 2860-ARM (SF) Loan was declared effective on September 14, 2012.

Financial Means: 50 mln USD, from which ADB loan – 40 mln USD, RA co-financing – 10 mln USD.

Objective : Rehabilitation, replacement and/or extension of water distribution systems in approximately 18 towns and 92 villages within the Project area.

Project Completion : 30 April 2017

3. Municipal Water Supply and Wastewater Project –Additional Financing funded by the World Bank

Contract . On 24 November 2008 the Republic of Armenia and the International Development Association (IDA) signed the Financing Agreement as the Additional Financing for implementation of Municipal Water Supply and Wastewater Project.

Financial means . 25.8. mln USD, from which IDA loan - 19.8 mln USD, RA co-financing - 5.9 mln USD.

The loan declared effective on 24 March 2009.

Objective : The additional financing of Municipal Water Supply and Waste Water Project II would support the scaling up of the ongoing program of water system rehabilitation and improvements, including extension of the ongoing management contract. The proposed additional financing helps to enhance the sustainability, impact and development effectiveness of the ongoing project, maximizes its development outcomes as well as continues with the institutional and financial capacity building of AWSC.

Project completion : December 2011.

4. Municipal Water Project funded by the World Bank.

Contract . On 24 February 2012 the Republic of Armenia and the International Bank for reconstruction and development (IBRD) signed the Loan Agreement (Loan number 8129-AM) and on the same date the Project Agreement was signed between the IBRD and “Armenian Water and Sewerage” CJSC for implementation of Municipal Water Project.

Financial means . 18.0 mln USD, from which IBRD loan – 15.0 mln USD, RA co-financing – 3.0 mln USD.

The 8129-AM loan was declared effective on June 23, 2012.

Objective: The objective of the Project is (i) rehabilitation of water systems in the cities of Masis, Echmiadzin, and Ashtarak, including their neighboring rural settlements, (ii) water meter replacement and installation of meter chambers in several cities and villages throughout the AWSC Service Area to reduce commercial losses; (iii) automation of pumping stations and reservoirs; and (iv) procurement of equipment and machinery for improved O&M system of AWSC.

Project Completion: 30 June 2015 .




1. Lake Sevan Environmental project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

On 26 April 2007 the Republic of Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed the Loan agreement (Operation number 37030) and on the same date EBRD and “Armenian Water and Sewerage” CJSC signed the Agreement on Investment Grant Co-financing for implementation of Lake Sevan Environmental project.

Financial means: 12.0 mln EUR, from which EBRD loan -7.0 mln EUR, EBRD grant -5.0 mln EUR, RA Co-financing- 1.76 mln EUR.

The loan declared effective on 09 October 2009.

Objective : Construction of Mechanical Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs) in Gavar, Vardenis and Martuni towns and rehabilitation of wastewater networks in Gavar, Vardenis, Martuni, Jermuk and Sevan. Lake Sevan Environmental Project will constitute one step of a long term capital investment program of the AWSC CJSC to improve efficiency and reduce operation and maintenance costs, water losses and discharges of untreated sewerage into Lake Sevan and Hrazdan River.

Project Completion : December 2012.

2. Armenian Small Municipalities Water Project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Contract: On 14 July 2011 the Republic of Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed the Loan agreement (Operation number 40718) and on the same date EBRD and “Armenian Water and Sewerage” CJSC signed the Project Agreement for implementation of “Armenian Small Municipalities Water Project”.

On 20 January 2011 the Republic of Armenia and European Union represented by the European Commission through the Neighborhood Investment Facility and “Armenian Water and Sewerage” CJSC signed Financing Agreement (“Grant-Co-Financing”) for the implementation of the same Project.

The Project foresees the contribution of the technical grants from other donor organizations.

Financial means: 26.04 mln EUR, from which EBRD loan -6.5 mln EUR, EIB loan - 6.5 mln EUR, NIF grant -7.6 mln EUR, other donors – 1.1 mln EUR, RA Co-financing- 4.34 mln EUR.

As of May 2012 40718 loan was not declared effective yet.

Objective: is (i) improvement of municipal water supply in Tavush, Lori, Shirak, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Syunk and Vayots Dzor marzes and (ii) rehabilitation of wastewater treatment plants and sewerage collectors in the Tavush (town of Dilijan) and Vayots Dzor (town of Jermuk) marzes.

Project completion: 30 June 2015.
